Frequently asked questions
How does an online Secret Santa draw work?
You type the names of the group and share one link, for example in WhatsApp. Everyone opens the link, taps their own name and sees right away who they buy a gift for. The draw happens on our server, so nobody can peek.
Is it free?
Yes. There are no ads. If someone buys a gift through a link on a wish list, we may earn a small commission. Those links are clearly marked.
Does everyone need an email address?
No. You share one link in your group chat. Everyone taps their own name and sees their own match.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Everything works in the browser of your phone or computer. Nobody has to download anything or create an account.
How many people can take part?
From 3 to 100 people per group.
Does it work if we are not together?
Yes. Everyone sees their own match on their own device, wherever and whenever they like. Useful for family who live far apart or colleagues who work from home.
What if someone taps the wrong name?
Each name can be picked only once. The organiser can release a name with the admin link.
Can I exclude couples?
Yes. Under “Who may not draw each other?”, add one pair per line, for example “Jan - Lies”.
Can someone draw themselves?
No. In groups of four or more we also avoid two people drawing each other.
Can I draw names with ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Ask the assistant. It creates the group through our connector or a prefilled link. The assistant does not see the result.
When is the data deleted?
30 days after the party date, or 90 days after creation if there is no date.
What is Secret Santa?
Secret Santa is a gift exchange where everyone secretly draws one name and buys a gift for that person, usually within a set budget. It is also called Kris Kringle, and in the Netherlands and Belgium “lootjes trekken”.
